Writing killer ads for surplus, liquidation and closeout merchandise?

1.        Create compelling headlines, the
headline is critical and must
compel you to read the sales letter or ad. Ask yourself is the headline
enticing enough to get people to take action. Such as “Do you want to
make money? Then you must learn how to write killer headlines!” Start a
collection of headlines that impress you.
Example headlines
  • Would you gamble one dollar?
  • How to ............
  • Secret ............
  • Warning 3 deadly signs of heart disease.
  • Are you looking for ...........

2.        It is a myth that long ads don’t work, but it must draw the reader in
and tell a story. Give a lot of details and
paint a mental story. Tell a tale
using specifics the more the better.

3.        Ads must be error free.

4.        Write and rewrite your ads then read out loud. It may takes weeks
of refining to get it right.

5.        Keep a file of ads that get your attention and use them for
inspiration when writing your ad.

6.        Have as many people proof read it out loud as possible and
encourage them to be very critical of your ad also offering suggestions if
they will. Keep fine tuning your ad at all times.

7.        Keep sentences short and get to the main topic fast.

8.        Write about the benefits of your product not the features. Always
sell the sizzle not the steak. Ask yourself these questions.
Remember
people purchase due to emotions!!!
  • What will your product do for the buyer ?
  • How will it make his life better ?
  • Why should you buy from me ?
  • How am I different ?
  • Why am I different ?

9.        Reader only cares about how the product or service will benefit
him not you.

10.      Use the word you often rather than the word I.

11.        Once you have written your ad or sales letter test it keeping
track of the results. Every time you make a change retest the ad. This is
the secret keep testing. Ads should not be left to guess work test, test
and test some more!!!

P.S. Always add P.S. At least once saying something to entice them to
buy now.
Such as
  • may never see again
  • only have 3 available
  • exclusive
  • free give away
  • limited time only

12.        Include testimonials the more the better if you are just getting
started and don't have testimonials the use your feedback comments as
a substitute. Better yet include them both the more the buyer trust you
the more likely they will purchase from you.
